This research was conducted with the aim of finding out how cargo officers handle perishable goods. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research are that the handling carried out by cargo officers is: 1) The first handling is paying attention to the packaging. The packaging used to wrap these items must use bubble warp and then be wrapped again in cardboard, to avoid damage during the flight or when stored. 2) The second treatment is to put perishable items in the freezer, for example milk and fruit. Items that are put in the refrigerator are cool so that they remain durable and don't immediately go stale or rot. 3) The third treatment is the separation of goods that are easily damaged from goods that are not easily damaged. Items that are easily damaged when stacked with other items will experience damage, for example fruit, cosmetic products and also electronic goods. When items are stacked, the bottom item will be damaged because it cannot hold the entire pile of items. 4) The fourth treatment is to provide cargo insurance, when the goods are damaged in the warehouse or during the flight, the cargo officer will replace them. Providing cargo insurance is a form of officer responsibility so that customers are not disappointed with the cargo officer's service. 5) The fifth treatment is to label goods that are easily damaged, so handle them carefully. With a label, officers on the plane will know that the item is a perishable item. Usually the label given is "don't slam or throw this item, it breaks easily" or "watch out for breakable items". If the label is not there, it is likely that the item will be thrown away, which could harm certain parties.
